The Flakpanzer "Ostwind" had a 3.7cm FlaK43 in a six sided turret put onto a Panzer IV. The production series is based on Panzer IV Ausf.J hulls.
It was built by Deutsche Eisenwerke. From December 1944 until March 1945 only 43 Ostwind were produced and issued to AA platoons of Pz.Rgt, and Pz.Div.
The engine was the 265HP Maybach HL120TRM which allowed a maximum speed of 38km/h on street. The Ostwind was 5.92m long, 2.95m wide and 2.96m high. It weighted 25 tons.
The Panzerlehrdivision was raised in January 1944 in France and sent to Normandy. In 1945 it fought in the Ardennes, the Rhine and was captured from the American Forces in the Ruhrkessel.
