The Russian T-34 tank is credited with being one of the most effective and influential tank designs of WWII. Such was the versatility of the T-34 design that it was produced all the way through till 1958 in a couple of places outside the USSR! During the course of production it underwent numerous improvements. The T-34/76 Mod.1941 was a main-production variant armed with a 76.2mm F-34 gun, for which 77 rounds were carried. Its armor was heavier than that on earlier T-34s (up to 52mm at its thickest points), contributing to a total weight of 26.5 tons. The T-34/76 Mod.1941 was one type of armored vehicle that the Red Army used to defend the city of Leningrad in the Baltic during the destructive siege by German forces of Army Group North. This grim blockade was to grind on for 872 days from 8 September 1941 onwards.

Dragon Armor’s newest 1/72 scale miniature vehicle portrays one of the defenders of Leningrad in the 1942-42 period. The tank is of the type discussed above. Although the unit the tank belongs to hasn’t been identified, it carries a most distinctive camouflage scheme. The base green paint is over-painted in white bands and spots designed to help it blend into the background during winter fighting. This paint scheme has been realistically applied. For modelers seeking a model of the famous Russian T-34, this Mod.1941 variant is an outstanding specimen!
